Overview

Carl Zeiss: Automation in Modern Imaging Applications – News and Views (12:00 PM - 12:15 PM)

Details

Automation is defined as the use of control systems for operating equipment and driving processes. In contrast to motorization, which refers to any item that contains a motor, it implies, that minimal human intervention is needed. Thus, automated microscopes simplify complex microscopy. They support users increasing efficiency by significantly reducing necessary user interference. System utilization and uptime are optimized, while training efforts and overall system maintenance are significantly reduced. Several automation features allow a huge variety of imaging experiments that save the researcher time and labor and increase research output. In addition, the reproducibility of this output is significantly improved due to a reliable and monitored system performance. In this presentation an overview is given about the automation functionalities with Axio Scan.Z1 for fixed specimen and Celldiscoverer 7 for live cell imaging.
